Nipple tattoos after mastectomy give breast cancer survivors the option to have a realistic-looking nipple without having to undergo another surgery and for some it represents closing a difficult chapter. Though flat, these hyperrealistic images give you nipples that appear 3-D and a less invasive alternative to complete nipple reconstruction. Depending on how fast you heal after a mastectomy and whether or not you need radiation, you’ll need to wait three months before getting your tattoo.

Prior to the procedure, you’ll meet with Lucy for your initial consultation. During that time, you’ll discuss size, placement, and pigment colors. There she will inspect the area she’ll be working on, in order to determine the best way to proceed.

During your consultation Lucy will create a plan based on your preferences, variables (like your scar patterns), amount of scar tissue, and skin thickness. You’ll also be given instructions on how to prepare for the procedure along with an aftercare sheet once the procedure is complete so you can take the best care of your new tattoo!
